Courageously PROcreating

UPDATE:  5/29/12
My friend pointed out that I haven't updated this page for awhile.  The reason I haven't is that up until a week ago, I've been struggling with the loss of one of our twins (Baby B).  I had complications with this loss, and I was terrified that Baby A wasn't going to make it, either.  However, Baby A is doing GREAT so far.  I am not "out of the woods" yet, as the doctor told me at my 12 week appointment.  They will know more about how Baby A is really doing at my 18-20 week visit, which will be mid-July.  She did say that she thinks all will be well.  I am starting to feel more positive now that the miscarriage of Baby B seems to finally be complete.  Losing one baby while growing another one was not something I ever expected to experience.  It has been exhausting and confusing.  However, like I said, Baby A is doing great and is growing right on schedule.  Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers.  We really appreciate all of your love, good thoughts, and prayers of support.

UPDATE:  3/23/12
WE are PREGNANT!! Thank you for all of your good vibes, prayers, and good energy.  Please keep it all coming, as pregnancy is also a journey.  We are extremely grateful.  We are so excited!  We love our baby(ies) already.  We will find out mid-April if all is well, and how many are developing.
Sincerely,
Briana and Tom

Dear Believer in Miracles,
Subject:  A Request for Help

I am writing this letter to you to share my story and ask for your help.  I have been a teacher of young children since I graduated from college in 1998.  I love what I do.  I love children, and I love to see them thrive.  That is why I am an educator.  I also have a dream of becoming a parent.

My husband Tom and I got married in 2005, bought our first house in 2006, and decided to have children in 2007.  We got pregnant our first month of trying, but sadly miscarried seven weeks later.  We have not conceived since then, despite our efforts to try various natural fertility methods.  In the spring of 2011, we finally decided to seek the help of an infertility specialist.  We had three failed IUIs (intra uterine inseminations), which my health insurance did not cover.
This past November, I turned thirty-seven years old.  With my own research and doctor recommendation, we have decided to try in vitro fertilization (IVF).  Statistics show if we can try IVF while I am thirty-seven, there is a 47% chance that we will bring home a baby.  After thirty-seven, miscarriage rates increase and delivery rates drop significantly.

Please help us make our dream come true.  We are asking for donations, as we are unable to acquire a loan.  If you feel called to help us, this is the breakdown of our financial needs:
By December 20th we need $3,500 for diagnostic tests (need has been met by donations)

By January 20th we need $26,600 for the Attain Refund program

By January 30th we need $4,000 for the cost of medications for the first IVF cycle

Total costs for the entire process from start to finish will be around $35,000-$40,000.

If you know other people who you think would be interested in donating to our family, please pass this letter on to them.

Thank You,
Briana and Tom

PS  PayPal (the provider of the "Donate" button below), takes about 4% of the money donated.  If you would prefer to pay by check or money order so that we can fully use your generous donation, please email me, and I will send you our mailing address.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  You are making miracles happen!

Update 1/30/12
My husband and I are moving forward with our dream of becoming parents.  We've decided to try IVF.  We are excited and scared all at the same time.  We had to choose a different plan (not the Attain Refund Program), but we are still feeling very hopeful.  If you value raising a family, please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.  We consider prayers to be a huge contribution to our journey.
Blessings and Peace,
Briana
