Update from a week away

Can you spy the kitty in the leaves?  Which direction is she running?
Have you been into the pumpkin guts yet?  Here are some little hands getting into it!

Wow!  I can't believe how fast a week can go.  I was sick and busy last week, and I didn't even create a post!  Shame on me!  I hope I can make it up to you.

Kitties Watching Birds

Feet

I know that feet can be kind of gross, BUT they need love, too.  When is the last time that you gave yourself a foot rub?  For some reason, I hardly ever touch my feet.  They aren't particularly gross; I just tend to neglect them.  Well, today I gave myself a short foot rub after the shower, and it felt soooo nice.  It's easy to forget the simple pleasures in life, isn't it.  Go ahead, give yourself a foot rub and see if you feel any better afterward!  I know I sure did.
By the way, I used Avalon Organics Peppermint Hand and Body Lotion.

A Week in the Life Scrapbook

I finally finished my scrapbook!  Yay!  As I mentioned in previous posts, I participated in an idea by Ali Edwards to document a week in your life.  I took lots of pictures that week.  I condensed them down into one scrapbook.  I used a BoBunny 9x9 Bare Naked album.  I like the 3 ring binder kind of scrapbook for some reason.  I also like chipboard.   Maybe it's because I can do whatever I want on the pages.  I kept it simple for this one.  Take a peak!

Nancy Carlson's Drawing Talk

Here are a few pictures from my notebook (and one picture of my notebook)=).  I drew these as Nancy Carlson taught the class how to draw a few of her characters.

Cool New Book

I am always interested in seeing how people live in our society .  I am curious about people's houses and lifestyles.  I think it must be a natural curiosity for most of us.  When I was in Madison, I was at A Room Of One's Own and saw a really cool book about American life.  It is called America at Home.  There are tons of neat facts and statistics among the amazing photographs of Americans in their homes.  Check it out!

Professional Conference

I attended a professional conference for teachers yesterday.  I was really excited to be there for many reasons.  First of all, I needed a break from my work.  Second, I love to learn.  And third, author/illustrator Nancy Carlson was going to be there giving talks and signing books.  I really enjoyed the talk that I went to with her called, "A Visit with Nancy Carlson-Drawing Talk".  She showed us how to draw some of her characters from her books.  I was very inspired by her.  She emphasized how important drawing is to her.  She draws for her work, but she also draws as a way to de-stress from a challenging day.   I highly recommend her books for children ages 3 and up.  Click on her name in this post to be connected to her website.

The Kitten and the Big, White Machines

Once upon a time there lived a kitten.  She was long and lean.  She was nicknamed Weasel because she liked to weasel her way under things.  This little kitten-weasel decided that she was curious about something.  She wondered what was behind the big, white machines.  She flopped right down the narrow passage behind one of the big, white machines.  Once she got down there, she stayed very quiet.  Her brother stood on top of the big, white machine and looked down at her.  The Human Mommy called and called for the little girl kitten, but she didn't answer. The Human Mommy was no fool; especially since the Boy Kitten was giving away a big clue as he stood on top of the big, white machine.  So, the Human Mommy peaked behind the dryer, then behind the washer, and she saw two little eyes looking through a crack.  It was the little Weasel-Kitten!  The Human Mommy went to get a towel for the kitten to climb up, but by the time the Mommy was ready, the little Weasel-Kitten had made it on top of the dryer all by herself.  The End

Fall Pictures

Who can resist the beauty of fall colors?  I can't.  I took a ton of pictures this weekend, as the colors seemed to be at their peak.  Hope you enjoy them!

Weekend in Madtown

I had the best time in Madison this past weekend.  It was great to catch up with old friends and see how the city has changed.  I definitely could have spent a whole week there.  I am going to have to go back again soon.  Here are some pics from the trip.

Wednesday-Over Half Way There!

Here are a few highlights from my week so far:
1.  I started working out again!
2. I saw a double rainbow on my way home from work yesterday.
3.  I bought and drank a Caribou Vanilla Iced Coffee drink from BP.
4.  The kitties were put in "their room" the past couple of nights, so I actually got a little sleep!
Hope your week is going well.  What has been a hightlight for you?

tea, journal, and me

tea, journal, and me

Yesterday I did some journal writing while I drank a cup of hot chai tea. It was so yummy on the cool and rainy, fall day we had yesterday. I decided to number my thoughts instead of just writing in paragraph form across the page. For some reason the numbering helped me to get out what I needed to say.

October is HERE!

I am so lucky to teach children.  I am so lucky to be given the opportunity to eat bright, fun cupcakes.  When is the last time you ate a fun cupcake?  You might want to make some today!
